NC Charter School enrollment as of winter –spring 2004 - 21,615

12 schools with a combined enrollment of 3,666 students (or 17%) scored 94.5% or higher on the NC Tests - all 12 made AYP

23 schools with a combined enrollment of 7,597 students (or 35%) scored 90.0% or higher on the NC Tests – all 23 made AYP

39 schools with a combined enrollment of 11,581 students (or 54%) scored 84.9% or higher on the NC Tests – all 39 made AYP

49 schools with a combined enrollment of 14,780 students (or 68%) scored 79.5% or higher on the NC Tests – 48 of the 49 made AYP

64 schools with a combined enrollment of 18,049 students (or 84%) scored 70.5% or higher on the NC Tests – 60 of the 64 made AYP

77 schools with a combined enrollment of 19,944 students (or 92%) scored 60.7% or higher on the NC Tests – 68 of the 77 made AYP

Of the remaining 15 schools in operation – 1,671 students (8%) – 5 made AYP

1. 2 did not have scores to report (not enough students to validate scores or only students in K-2)

2. 6 are designated as alternative charters (court appointed students or former dropouts returning to school)

3. 1 is in court fighting revocation

4. the 6 remaining schools have a combined enrollment of 590 students (or 3%) of the total charter population scores range 19.4% to 59.4%
